Family recovery life coaching is specifically focused on the loved-ones of people struggling with addiction. A family recovery life coach is professionally trained and knowledgeable about the family dynamics when addiction is involved. At Peace For Moms, we work specifically with the Moms. Unlike therapy, who’s focus in primarily on healing the past, coaching is focused on moving forward and living our best lives and re-establishing peace in our homes, with clarity, compassion and confidence. Here at Peace for Moms, we help Moms re-establish peace in their own lives and homes, while learning how to become their struggling child’s best chance at recovery.
All coaching is a partnership between the coach and the client to achieve the clients goals. The client sets the agenda and the coach partners with the client to reveal the wisdom within that will lead to forward motion. The distinction of a family recovery coach is that the coach can also provide specific awareness, education and tools that will help move the family towards healing. Your coach will always ask your permission to share information for your consideration.
Anyone can call themselves a coach. I knew a woman who put up a shingle and started a business giving advice to people who were stuck. She felt qualified because she was the one that her friends and family turned to for advice. Her clients let her do their thinking for them, without anyone ever connecting the dots when their lives did not improve…
In truth, no one knows what we want or need better than ourselves. A professional certified family recovery coach is trained to partner with you, bringing awareness, education and tools to guide you. We ask powerful questions that let you see the forrest for the trees in the context of your own experience and awareness. A coach will help you tap into your own innate wisdom and will never tell you what you should do, but will equip you to make your best and most informed choices. Only you know what’s right for you and sometimes it’s just a matter of slowing down and taking a little time to get informed and reconnect with yourself.
To get the most out of a coaching experience requires that we have a true desire to move forward in new and more rewarding ways. To do this we must be willing to be honest with ourselves about what actually is – and what we truly want. Change is not easy, but getting to where we want to be in some aspect of our lives is truly worthwhile. As your coach, I will help you identify the limiting beliefs that hold you back, help you broaden the scope of your understanding of addiction, so you can move forward with clarity, compassion and confidence.
A word about Confidentiality: please know that what happens in a coaching session, stays in a coaching session. Certified coaches are bound by the same standards and ethics as therapists, counsellors and psychologists.
What will you benefit from one-on-one family recovery coaching?
Some of the things we cover may seem counter-intuitive to a Mom. However, it’s just like when you get on a plane and the steward tells you that in an emergency, you must put your own oxygen mask on first. You can’t be of help to anyone else, if you don’t take care of yourself first. It’s not selfish Mom – it’s essential!!
Family Recovery Coaching will help you:
- in overcoming your constant focus with your loved-one’s substance use disorder
- understand how & why it is essential to support to your child’s treatment centre when they are in treatment.
- gain information that empowers you make better decisions
- gain awareness of small changes that have big positive impacts

What exactly are the benefits of having a Life Coach?
What Exactly does A Life Coach Do?
A family recovery life coach partners with you to tap into your own innate wisdom. They hold space for you so you can see the forest for the trees and hear your own words from the outside in. No one knows you better than yourself. It’s amazing what you’ll discover as you hear your own words speak your true wisdom. Life coaching allows you to stop the world so you can reflect – on what you are needing and what you would like to have happen. In the specialized field of family recover, you’ll also gain certain awareness, education and tools to help you re-establish peace in your own life, your family and your struggling child. The experience of giving yourself a session with a life coach is about taking time to connect with yourself. A life coach will bring out your true essence and help you remember who you truly are, what really matters to you, and how to get where you want to be.
How Do I Know if Life Coaching Is Right for Me?
Life coaching is for people with a goal in mind. A life coach helps you answer a question, find a solution, clarify what you really want and make positive changes in your life. It’s about moving forward rather than reliving or staying stuck in the past or even the present situation. The experience of being coached is intended to be empowering and transformative in some way. Being coached helps us to evolve into our own potential and create a roadmap for moving forward.
Do You Only Work With Moms?
Never say never, but for now the answer is yes. The path that led me to this career created a profound understanding of what it means to be a Mom and what Moms do. Moms are fierce protectors and we will roll up our sleeves and try to fix anything that interferes with the wellbeing of our family. Our focus is so often outward. I have a profound love of the roll of the mother as a fierce warrior and my compassionate understanding of that has become the foundation of what I have to offer both as a family recovery coach and as a life coach. In my role as a life coach, I gently guide my Mommas to focus on their goals for themselves for just a short time, rather than the needs of others.
Do You Offer combined Services?
I offer services that compliment each other and if I believe that combining services will help you, I will suggest them. Family recovery coaching is a little different from life coaching in that I have knowledge that can help in certain situations and I will ask you if you would like those suggestions. If you come to me for coaching, you will not need to choose one over the other – we’ll take things one session at a time. I will always ask your permission and you are always at choice.
Do You offer packages?
I do offer packages. Coaching is not a long term prospect. We’ll work on your objectives and get you to where you want to go. A package is usually 6 or 12 sessions and may be renewed as long as you feel you are benefitting. It can also be combined with a course or a one year BALM® family membership. These packages offer discounts for a set commitment. However, due to the nature of coaching, if at any point you no longer feel you are benefitting from coaching with me, we will stop. Please review our policies for clarification.
